A glittering professional's career can conceal some of the saddest stories. Lolo Jones, who won both USA championships as well as the World Championships in hurdle events was able to achieve her standing with lots of effort as well as a lot of patience. Jones was the only child of a five-child family as well as grew up in extreme poverty. Her mother was constantly in motion and even lived in a basement church for a short duration. The sporadic lifestyle led Jones to switch to a new school every year, until she began in high school. Jones moved away from her mom to Theodore Roosevelt in order for her to pursue her passion for track. Jones was part of four families during her time at high school, in order to learn in one place. Jones also played cello in the school orchestra. At school, she was awarded the Gatorade Athlete of the Year Award from Iowa Track And Field.
