Srushti Deshmukh began working on her UPSC entry in her 3rd year of her engineering degree. When she finished her senior year of engineering, Deshmukh questioned if she would like working in the field of engineering. In the end, she realized that civil engineering was her love and focused on the field. The parents of her encouraged her to pursue civil service, and to pursue an employment in the public sector. Her motivation never waned as she remained focused on her goal of becoming an IAS. It takes more effort to be successful at UPSC. When she was preparing for her engineering classes and other classes, she also used to work on different subjects for UPSC. Each day she set aside some time to prepare for the exam. She studied for the engineering exams in just one and a half months, avoiding social life. She believes that focus and concentration are essential to pass the government examination to become an official. She set out to make it through the test in one go, and she put in lots of hours. Each day she would was reading the paper to stay up with current events. In addition, she had plenty of online support by gathering studies materials and watching Rajya Sabha TV.
